Low Explosive-
Low explosive- it is the mechanical mixture of finely ground combustible substances those are mixed by ignition and have heaving effect. the process of combustion due to ignition of the combustible material is from grain to grain.there is gradual build up of pressure with the gradual increase in the volume or gases produced due to grain to grain combustion.

Gunpowder Explosive
Gunpowder explosive- it is low explosive. Which is the oldest form of explosive. This is the mixture of Potassium Nitrate or Sodium Nitrate ,Carbon and sulphur, the ingredients being finely ground and intimately mixed.Gunpowder is initiated with sparks from a safety fuse or electric ignitor fuse. And after ignition it liberates large volumes of smoke and poisonous gases, alongwith a long hot flame. The product of gunpowder explosion contains CO2, CO, N2, H2S, CH4, Hydrogen and a small quantity of solids.

Composition of gunpowder-
Potassium Nitrate or Sodium Nitrate - 75%Charcoal - 15%
Sulphur - 10%
Advantages of gunpowder-
1. Low cost.2. It can be ignited by safety fuse.
3.Low vibration produced.
4.They are very safe to handle.
5.Storage of Gunpowder is safe.
6.Charge can be prepared at face.
Disadvantage of Gunpowder-
1. It cannot be used in gassy mine.2.it is affected by water, so it can't be used in watery holes.
3.it is bulky and troublesome to carry.
4.V.O.D.(velocity of detonation) is low.
5. Burning speed of explosive is low compare to high explosive.
6. It produces high amount of smoke.
